Weather Beaten/Beetled

A Report from Helen Sida-Page
Denton Village Hall was packed with players last night and, despite the best efforts of storm Boelo the intrepid folk of Denton were not going to be denied their Beetle Drive. Five great and exciting games were played then the power went off.
Betty Wilby in the kitchen declared supper ready so we paused for Bangers and Mash while a plan was formulated.
Not to be deterred, the fantastic emergency lighting came on, and, with battery side lights provided by the Cooper family, seven more games were completed, with Doris Lambert running out overall winner.
This was a great community evening with over 80 years spanning the youngest to the oldest player.
Thank you to Emily and Joseph Batchelor for manning the door and the raffle, Neil for the bar, Betty and Jean for supper, and Sarah Batchelor for organising.
Over £200 was raised for hall funds.
