Draft Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held at 7.30 pm. on Tuesday 10th March 2026 in Denton Village Hall.

Present: Cllr Hanner; Chairman, Cllr Fearnley, Cllr Sida-Page, Cllr Bunn, Cllr Kerr, Cllr Ashton. Also present: Mrs J Loveday (Clerk)

1. Cllr Hanner welcomed all to the meeting.

2. To receive apologies from members unable to attend:
Cllr Edwards, Cllr Brown District Councillor.

3. To receive Declarations of Interest from members on matters on the agenda:
None.

4. To approve and sign the Minutes of the Last Meeting
The minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday, 13th January 2026 were approved and signed by Cllr Hanner; Chairman, as a correct record.

5. Open Forum for Public Participation (maximum 10 minutes):
None.

6. To discuss Matters Arising from the Minutes of the last meeting which are not on the agenda:
The new welcome letter has been compiled and delivered to 2 new residents.
We have been in touch with Highways about coming out to look at areas in the village that need attending to but have been advised that they are very busy with pot holes as present so will not be able to come out just yet.

7. To receive reports from County Councillor and District Councillor:
Monthly report from Cllr Stone; County Councillor was circulated. <

8. To receive Updates on items from the Minutes of the Last Meeting:

  • Broadband in the village - no further updates. Some residents have gone to ‘Starlink’ which seems to be working well and is now a reasonable price. Cllr Kerr will send a notification to the village to inform them of Starlink availability and cost.
  • Parking at Globe Close – Nothing further to report.
  • Anglian Water sewer problem – Cllr Sida Page will chase this.

9. To receive Playingfield Report and update on repairs carried out:
Cllr Fearnley did inspection. All was in good order.
Few items to be mentioned:

  • The plastic bench behind the recycling area is falling apart and will need to be replaced.
  • Pot holes need to be filled in the car park. A date will be set for this.
  • Coal shed will be sorted in Spring.
NGF Play have been to look at the Wooden Fort. Lots of repair needed and they will email their report and quote. Cllr Sida Page will chase them for this and ask about what grants are available.
The zip line is all ok.

10. To discuss and comment on planning applications received and related matters:
Ref: 2026/0266, Old School House, Trunch Hill, Denton. Proposal: Erection of raised playhouse with veranda and steps. No objection from any councillor.
Ref: 2026/0254 & 0255, Ivy Farm, Darrow Green Road, Denton. Proposal: Demolition of existing garage building and store. Erection of new residential annex for family member. Erection of new garage/cartshed with woodstore. No objection from any councillor.
Ref: 2026/0539, Watch House, Trunch Hill, Denton. Proposal: to replace existing timber single glazed windows with new timber double glazed windows. No objection from any councillor.
The Old Dairy, Darrow Green Road, Denton. Proposed village convenience store application will be considered at the meeting of the Development Management Committee on 11th March, 2026.
Cllr Hanner will attend to show our support.

11. Finance: To approve payments to be made:
Payments:

  • Clerk Ssalary for 2 months £326.88.
  • The Community Heartbeat Trust – Annual support cost £162.00. Cllr Sida Page offered to pay half this which was gratefully received.
Receipts:
  • None,

12. Any Other Business.
We have received a Thank you letter from Redenhall with Harleston Town Council for our contribution towards the upkeep of the car park.

13. To agree items for the next meeting be held on Tuesday, 12th May.
None at this time.
It was agreed to hold the Annual Parish Meeting on this date also and to start at 7pm. Parish Council meeting will follow.

14.Cllr Hanner thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting at 8.15 pm.
