Denton Parish Council
Draft Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held at 7.30 pm. on Tuesday 9th September 2025 in Denton Village Hall.
Present: Cllr Hanner; Chairman, Cllr Ashton, Cllr Bunn, Cllr Fearnley, Cllr Sida-Page.
Also present: Cllr Brown: District Councillor and Mrs J Loveday (Clerk),
1. Cllr Hanner welcomed all to the meeting.
2. To receive apologies from members unable to attend:
Cllr Kerr, Cllr Edwards.
3. To receive declarations of interest from members on matters on the agenda:
None.
4. To approve and sign the minutes of the 8th July 2025:
They were approved and signed by Cllr Hanner; Chairman, as a correct record.
5. Open Forum for public participation (maximum 10 minutes):
None.
6. To discuss matters arising from the minutes of the last meeting which are not on the agenda:
None.
7. To receive reports from County Councillor and District Councillor:
The September report from Cllr Stone; County Councillor has been circulated.
Cllr Brown, District Councillor, reported:
- Several meetings have been held on the local Government reorganisation. South Norfolk council will be publishing their proposal for 2 unitary authorities to government by 26th September, 2025.
- County Council elections and the Mayor election will be held May 2026.
8. To receive updates on items from the minutes of the last meeting:
Broadband in the village -
No further update.
Sale of the Elite Major Shredder -
All money has now been received
Saffron Housing Parking -
A site meeting has been held with Nicola Tate the Land Management Officer from Saffron Housing. She has sent all the information over to their Asset Team to look, investigate and explore what possibilities there might be to provide alternative/increase parking for tenants at Globe Close.
She has also reached out to NCC/Highways for information regarding any possibilities regarding the current on road lay by parking.
Anglian Water sewer problem -
Cllr Sida Page has spoken to the Environmental hazard people who have put it down as a spillage and will send somebody out to look at it.
9. To receive Playingfield report and results of inspection and progress on sorting the Coal House:
Cllr Kerr emailed in a report in her absence.
All was in good order apart from the following:
- Raised balance plank wood has deteriorated and needs replacing
- Still need a turn buckle on the tyre
- Post (newly concreted) needs the chain attaching
- Flooring on the fort on the zip wire side is ‘spongy’ suggesting deterioration.
- The bin near goal posts was full of food waste consequently lots of maggots and bugs. Cllr Kerr will discuss with Cllr Hanner.
No progress on Coal House at present.
10. To approve Health and Safety Policies provided by Cllr Edwards:
To carry forward to next meeting.
11. To discuss and comment on planning applications received and related matters:
Ref: 2025/2504 The Piggery, Middle Road, Denton. Proposed demolition of a former pig shed, which has Class Q prior approval, and its replacement with a single detached self build dwelling and carport.
All councillors approved.
12. Finance: To approve payments to be made and record money received:
Payments:
- Clerk salary for 2 months pay £326.88.
- T Hanner – Wood for decking £17.00.
- SNC Dog Bin annual charge (twice weekly emptying) £166.80.
- Shared Dog Bin with Alburgh parish council £47.00.
- Clear Insurance £919.24.
- Denton Village Hall, hire of hall to 30.9.25 £100.00.
- EM Cargill for Elite Shredder £250.00.
- SNC Adopter payment for recycling area £200.00.
- Sainsburys for damage to village sign £275.00.
13. Any Other Business.
It was agreed to pay Dawn Creasy £100 for painting the village sign.
The signpost on junction of Norwich Road and Bungay road has been knocked down. This has been reported again.
The residents of No. 7 Trunch Hill leave bins out in the road which is quite dangerous. Cllr Sida Page will speak to them.
Cllr Hanner has spoken to the residents about their hedges over hanging at Church Hill and these are now being cut.
14. To agree items for the next meeting be held on Tuesday, 11th November at 7.30pm..
None at this time.
