Denton Parish Council
Draft Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held at 7.30 pm. on Monday 2nd September 2024 in Denton Village Hall.
NB These are Draft minutes and subject to change at the next meeting.
1. Present: Councillors; Cllr Hanner; Chairman, Cllr Fearnley, Cllr Sida-Page, Cllr Ashton.Cllr Bunn, Cllr Edwards.
Also present: Mrs J Loveday (Clerk), 1 member of the public = Liz Cargill.
Cllr Hanner welcomed all to the meeting.
2. To receive apologies from members unable to attend:
Cllr Kerr.
3. To receive declarations of interest from members on matters on the agenda:
None.
4. To approve and sign the minutes of the last meeting:
The minutes of the 9th July, 2024 meeting were approved and signed by Cllr Hanner; Chairman, as a correct record.
5. Open Forum for public participation (maximum 10 minutes):
An opportunity to hear from members of the public.
Liz Cargill asked about the biodiversity plan we have in the village and enquired whether a sub group could be formed to involve the village as observers who can then report findings/ideas.
This information could then be collated which Liz was happy to co-ordinate. All councillors were happy for this to go ahead.
6. To discuss matters arising from the minutes of the last meeting which are not on the agenda:
None.
7. To receive reports from County Councillor and District Councillor
None.
8. To receive updates on items from the minutes of the last meeting:
- Broadband in the village – No report tonight.
- Sale of the Elite Major Shredder. Cllr Sida-Page has now taken photos of this and will advertise.
- Clothing Bank – this has been reported to South Norfolk Council and is being dealt with.
- Saffron Housing Parking, we have received an email from Saffron asking for the address of the bungalows. The clerk will report back and ask Saffron to come and look at the situation.
- Funding from Chris Brown for fence at playing field – We have had no reply from Cllr Brown yet as he is away. It was agreed that we would use our Cil money of £135.15 which needs to be spent before October 2024 towards the cost of replacing the fencing around the car park on the playing field.
9. To receive Playingfield report and to discuss grass cutting on the playing field:
Thanks was given to all who helped at the working party held in July.
Sarah Fearnley has agreed to carry on cutting the grass.
Cllr Hanner did inspection. All was clean and tidy. The following need sorting which Cllr Hanner will organise;
- The Wobble board has a broken post.
- One of the original trees behind the seats has died.
- One bit of the roof on the shelter needs sorting.
10. To receive updates on footpaths that need trimming:
Cllr Sida Page has contacted the land owners about making the footpaths accessible for walking which they have done.
11. To discuss and comment on planning applications received and related matters:
Decisions made:
Ref: 2023/2280, Vale Farm, Trunch Hill, Denton. Approval with Conditions.
Applications received:
Ref: 2024/2058 – Glebe Farm, Norwich Road, Denton. IP20 0BB. Proposal: Replacement single storey south extension. Councillors support this application.
12. Finance: To approve payments to be made and record money received:
Payments:
- Clerk salary £291.20 for 2 months.
- Denton Village Hall for Hire of Hall £100.00.
- Levi Farrow for 2 cuts of playing field £180.00.
- South Norfolk Council Adopter Payment for Mini Recycling Centre £200.00.
13. Any Other Business:
Cllr Sida Page offered to print the routes for the Jubilee Walks.
We have given permission for the cadets to camp on the field again this weekend.
There is a foul smell around, Cllr Hanner will contact Anglian Water and ask about extending the sewer.
14. To agree items for the next meeting:
None at present. Next meeting Tuesday, 12th November, 2024.
