Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held at 7.30 pm. on Tuesday 14th November 2023 in Denton Village Hall.

1. Present: Councillors; Cllr Hanner; Chairman, Cllr Bunn, Cllr Fearnley, Cllr Sida-Page, Cllr Kerr, Cllr Ashton.
Also present: Mrs J Loveday (Clerk).

Cllr Hanner; Chairman, welcomed everyone to the meeting.

2. To receive apologies from members unable to attend:
– Chris Brown; District Councillor, Cllr Jones.

3. To receive declarations of interest from members on matters on the agenda:
None.

4. To approve and sign the minutes of the last meeting:
The minutes of the 12th September 2023 meeting were approved and signed by Cllr Hanner; Chairman, as a correct record.

5. Open Forum for public participation (maximum 10 minutes):
An opportunity to hear from members of the public - None.

6. To receive reports from County Councillor and District Councillors:
Update from Barry Stone; County Councillor. This will go on the website.

7. To receive updates on items from the minutes of the last meeting:
Notice board Lock – Cllr Hanner will fit this.
Box for Dog poo bags – Cllr Hanner will make a new box.
Himalayan Balsam – Cllr Hanner will contact the environment agency.
Cricket Nets – We will wait until the Spring to talk about this.
Payment to the Rogerson’s Trust – this will be looked in to.
Cllr Sida Page will organise advertising the Shredder for sale.
Cllr Hanner has spoken to the owner of the hedge overhanging the road who will organise getting it cut.

8. To receive Playingfield report and to discuss items on play inspection report:
Cllr Bunn did inspection. All was in good condition.
A working party was held on 28th October. The fixed post on trim trail was mended, hedges were cut and the bottle bank area was cleaned up. Thanks was given to all who helped.

9. To receive update on the wild flower strip down side of playing field:
Cllr Jones in his absence emailed the following update:
The site was inspected a couple of weeks ago and he is pleased to report that some of the seed is already starting to germinate. The surplus hay now needs to be removed from the strip to ensure it does not swamp the new growth. He will look to action this imminently.

10. To discuss and comment on planning applications received and related matters:
Ref: 2023/2280, Vale Farm, Trunch Hill, Denton. Proposal: replace existing non structural brick skin to north, east and south elevations and with lime render.
All members support this application.

11. Finance: To approve payments to be made and record money received:
Payments:

  • Clerk salary for 2 months £274.00, plus working from home allowance.
  • Levi Farrow for grass cutting £90.00 x 3 (cuts).
  • SNC Dog Bin annual charge 2022/23 £89.28.
  • Payment for 1 bin to Alburgh parish council £41.75.
  • NGF Play for ground anchors for playing field £107.30.
Receipts:
  • SNC Precept £2,100.00

12. Any Other Business:
The finger post at bottom of Marshalls Hill needs attention. There are 3 posts in total in the village that need painting. We will ask on Denton Talk if anyone will volunteer to do these.
