Draft Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held at 7.30 pm. on Tuesday 11th July 2023 in Denton Village Hall.

NB These are Draft minutes and subject to change at the next meeting.

1. Present: Councillors; Cllr Hanner; Chairman, Cllr Bunn, Cllr Fearnley, Cllr Sida-Page, Cllr Kerr, Cllr Jones.
Also present: Mrs J Loveday (Clerk), Chris Brown; District Councillor.

Cllr Hanner; Chairman, welcomed everyone to the meeting.

2. To consider accepting apologies for absence:
Cllr Ashton

3. To receive declarations of interest from members on matters on the agenda:
None.

4. To approve and sign the minutes of the last meeting:
The minutes of the May 2023 meeting were approved and signed by Cllr Hanner; Chairman, as a correct record.

5. Open Forum for public participation (maximum 10 minutes):
An opportunity to hear from members of the public - None.

6. To receive reports from County Councillor and District Councillors:
Chris Brown, District Councillor reported - summarised as follows:

  • The council have now moved in to their new offices,
  • There will be a meeting soon to decide what to do with the old building, South Norfolk House,
  • The annual council meeting has been held to decide committees,
  • Chris is a member of the Waveney Lower Yare drainage board and Borderhoppa,
  • The scrutiny committee will now be chaired by opposition groups,
  • There will be a consultation on the pylons – Norwich to Tilbury route.

7. To receive updates on items from the minutes of the last meeting:
Key for Notice board – Cllr Hanner will get this.
Box for Dog poo bags – Cllr Hanner will mend the box.
Himalayan Balsam – Cllr Jones explained how this needs to be pulled up. Working party organised for Monday, 17th July at 6.30pm.
Cricket Nets – Discussions on forming a cricket club, there is a grant available from South Norfolk for setting up new clubs of approx. £300.00. Cllr Sida Page will put this on Denton Talk to see what response we get.

8. To receive Playingfield report and to discuss items on play inspection report:
Cllr Jones did inspections. All in good order.
He took some brambles out of willow structure.
The tall post with rings on needs replacing.
The posts are being ruined by strimming. We will look in to getting something to protect them.
The bench has 3 slats missing at the back of it. Cllr Hanner will repair.

9. To receive update on the wild flower strip down side of playing field:
After a site inspection, it was agreed that we would put a 1.5 m strip down the side of the playing field.
The Orchard was also looked at. Cllr Jones kindly offered to put together an action plan.

10. To discuss updating Fixed Asset Register:
This was discussed and a few amendments will be made.

11. To discuss and comment on planning applications received and related matters:
None.

12. Finance: To approve payments to be made and record money received:
Payments:

  • Clerk salary for 2 months £274.00, plus working from home allowance and fuel £30.00
  • Levi Farrow for grass cutting £90.00 x 2
  • ROSPA Play Safety inspection £127.80
Receipts:
  • None

13. Any Other Business:
Cllr Hanner has taken the village sign to be painted.
There are trees hanging down at Rogersons Wood – Cllr Sida Page offered to take a look.

14. To agree items for the next meeting 12th September, 2023 at 7.30pm.
None tonight.

15. Close of meeting:
Cllr Hanner thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting at 8.17 pm.
