Denton Parish Council

Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Tuesday 14th September 2021 at the Village Hall at 7.30 pm.

Present: Parish Councillors: Terry Hanner; (Chairman), Ken Ashton; Vice Chair, Melissa Bunn, Christine Kerr, Helen Sida-Page.
Also present: Jackie Ellis (Clerk), Barry Stone; County Councillor.

1. Terry Hanner welcomed everybody to our parish council meeting.

2. To receive and accept apologies from members unable to attend:
Robert Fearnley, Stephen Barrett.

3. To receive any declarations of interest in matters on the agenda:
None.

4. To approve and sign the minutes of the last meeting held on 29th June, 2021:
These minutes were approved and signed by Terry Hanner, Chairman.

5. Open Forum for Public Participation:
An opportunity to hear from members of the public - None

6. Reports from County and District Councillors:
Barry Stone, our County Councillor, had sent a report which had been emailed to parish councillors. This is available to view HERE.

7. To receive updates on items arising from the minutes of the last meeting not on the agenda:
Christine Kerr has had conversations with Gary Overland about speeding issues in the village and he has agreed to come out to the village and have a look shortly. We will discuss with him the following:

  • The gulley near the church that needs clearing,
  • The tree trunks, stones, etc on verges,
  • Re assessment of the 30mph speeding limit.

8. Update on Playing Field Issues and installation of new Litter Bins:
Christine Kerr did latest inspection. All was in good order.
The wood for the roadside fence has been purchased.
The Willow Hut needs trimming.
The 3 new litter bins have been purchased and will be installed.
A works party will be organised to do these jobs.

9. Update on speeding issues:
SAM 2 data has been received and Melissa Bunn has sent this to the Police. She has received an acknowledgement saying that they have been out to the village and are ‘cracking down’ on speeding.

10. To discuss clearing the allotment area:
Mr. Hanner will speak to Mr. Fearnley about this.

11. To discuss Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations next year:
Helen Sida-Page will look in to this and it was agreed to discuss further at next meeting.

12. To discuss and comment on Planning Applications received and related matters:
Applications received:
Ref: 2021/1532; Old School House, Trunch Hill, Denton. Councillors agreed to support this application.

13. Finance: To approve payments to be made and record money received:
Payments:

  • Clerk salary and expenses for 2 months £220.00, expenses £30.00
  • Levi Farrow; grass cutting £160.00
  • Terry Hanner; wood for roadside fence £250.64
  • Jaydee Living Ltd – 3 x litter bins £467.82
  • ROSPA Play Safety; Annual inspection £124.20
Receipts:
    VAT Repayment £69.58

14. Any Other Business:
NCC Tree stock – discussions on applying for trees.

15. To agree items for the next meeting:
9th November 2021 at 7.30 pm.
Queens Diamond Jubilee Celebrations,
Dog Poo Bags being left in hedges.

16. Close of meeting:
Mr Hanner thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting at 8.36 pm.
