Pressing Matters
Posted
This year's Apple Pressing Day, held by the Black Hand Cyder Society at Great Green Farm on Saturday, was a great success.
Local apple trees had produced a bumper crop with 3.75 tonnes of fruit collected and high quality juice in abundance. As a result 1280 litres, 281 gallons, were produced. This included, for the first time, some Quince juice.
A highlight of the day was the presentation, by the Society's Treasurer Richard Gedge, to our wonderful hosts, Gill and Adrian Hipwell, of a modest gift, a carved wooden box in the shape of an apple, to celebrate the 25th holding of the event.
