Horses Return

Yesterday's Plough Day at Vale Farm was different this year. For the first time a pair of Shire Horses was brought in to join the tractors and contribute to the work.
There seemed to be more tractors in action than last year but it was the Suffolk Punches who stole the show. It was even possible to pay £10 to take your turn, with suitable assistance, to use them to plough a few furrows. Others preferred to donate the £10 to the event's charity and observe the action.
It was all very impressive and reminded us that not much over 100 years ago horses like these did all the ploughing.
The event raised over £560 for the East Anglia Air Ambulance.
