Beauty the Winner
Posted
As ever with the DVC, it was very much a case of "It'll all be alright on the night" at this year's panto.
With a week to go, Gill Hipwell's clever adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast" seemed to be a long way short of performance-ready but, as usual, everybody rallied round, learnt their lines (or at least most of them) and everything came together "beautifully".
The three performances went remarkably well and the audiences appeared to enjoy themselves; the cast certainly did! There were of course a few "mishaps" but, as Oldstager mentions in his review of the show, Denton pantos would not be the same without them.
Most important of all, in the great panto tradition, good triumphed over evil and Beauty was the winner.
