Denton a village in South Norfolk, England

Two Very Special Events

Denton residents are accustomed to enjoying a regular series of excellent annual social events ranging from the Quiz Night to the Village Supper. But this year they were also entertained by two outstanding extra events, much enjoyed by everyone who attended.

Ready Steady Denton

In May every ticket had been sold in advance for this charity gig organised by the Fitzgeralds to raise funds for the Altzeimer’s Society.

The audience delighted in a series of skilled performers playing some great music. Appearing as soloists and groups, they delivered a great selection of songs old and new. Some members of the audience were moved to dancing in the limited space available; literally “in the aisles” in some cases. As many people commented “nothing compares with live music”.

At half-time an excellent supper was then served — delicious meatballs! — and the bar did a roaring trade. The evening finished with all the performers coming together for a grand finale. A truly memorable evening.

Cabaret Night

October saw another great evening of entertainment organised by Johnnie Carslake. That was the Cabaret!

All those who packed the Village Hall enjoyed performances by a magical group of local talented singers, a wonderful tasty dinner and an atmosphere second to none.

A total of £800 was raised and this was divided between St Mary's Church and the Village Hall.
