Transport Services

Road Access

The official designated road access to Denton in bad weather is from the A143 at Earsham via Hall Road and Denton Road to join Denton's Norwich Road down to Chapel Corner. This is the first (and probably only) route that will be gritted by County Highways in icy weather.

For further information, including a map, go to the County Highways website.

Bus & Train Cards

Everybody over 60 years of age is entitled to concessionary travel on all buses and trains

Applications for Bus Passes and Senior Rail Cards should be made to South Norfolk Council at Long Stratton. Bus Passes are free. In the case of Railcards these are cheaper than those obtained from the railway companies. Applications can also be made via Harleston Information Plus .

Local Scheduled Buses

Following the withdrawl of the 580 service in 2010 a much reduced service is running, at least for the time being.

Currently, from Mondays to Saturdays, one 004 bus from Norwich to Harleston diverts via Denton. It comes up Trunch Hill, picks up at Chapel Corner at 9.02 am and then turns round to return down Trunch Hill on its way to Harleston.

The return 004 service from Harleston leaves at 14.40 and reaches Chapel Corner at 14.58. However, in addition to the 004 return service, a taxi bus operates, on Wednesdays and Fridays only, to pick up from Harleston at 11.30am to bring passengers back to Denton.

Note there is no service to Bungay.

The Parish Council continues to press for a better service.

For further information about this service go to the Anglian Bus website. Or call: 01502 711109.

For information about national bus services go to the Traveline East Anglia website.

Community Transport

The Borderhoppa bus, a minibus Dial-a-ride service, is operated in the Harleston area by the Diss and District Community Transport Association. Unfortunately they have decided to exclude Denton from their catchment area! This section will be updated should the situation change.
