Most houses in our two villages rely on oil as a source of energy for heating. A syndicate has been set up to take advantage of bulk buying arrangements. Approximately every two months, sometimes more frequently in the winter, members of the syndicate can request a top-up visit from a tanker. A pre-arranged delivery run round the two villages is then organised for all those that need fuel.
Significantly lower prices are available because of the scale of the order and the resulting time and travelling savings for the supplier.
Julie Oxley nobly set up and ran this scheme from its inception. Julie then handed over to Katrina Cattermole but she has now stepped down. Thanks must go to everyone who has contributed to the success of the scheme.
The new organiser is Robert Banbury. Anyone wishing to join the scheme, membership is free, should contact Robert on 01986 788895.
Deliveries are organised on a regular basis. Members wishing to place an order should contact Robert, by the 5th of the month at the latest, preferably by email but if necessary by telephone before 9.00 pm. If there is no answer, the member should leave their name, telephone number and order quantity on the answering machine and Robert will confirm receipt as soon as possible.
